Green Burial, Redefined.

Urth Ritual is reimagining death care with biodegradable burial and ritual products that honor the body, the earth, and the memory of our loved ones.

Our products are grown, not manufactured — using mushroom fiber, or mycelium, and agricultural waste — they do not consume or extract any additional resources from the Earth. Mycelium feeds on organic material, creating a strong yet lightweight structure that fully biodegrades. No chemicals. No toxins. Just nature completing her cycle.

Each product is one of a kind—natural variations in texture, color, and shape are part of the process; reminders that imperfection is a mark of authenticity, not a flaw.

Product offerings:

  • Urth Coffin

  • Urth Pet Coffin

  • Urth Urn and Pet Urn

By offering sustainable, affordable, and beautifully crafted products, we invite a new way to meet death—with clarity, care, and deep respect for the natural world.

We are based in Brooklyn, New York.

WHAT IS MYCELIUM?

Mycelium is the underground root system of fungi—a living network of fine threads that breaks down organic matter and connects ecosystems. It's the largest organism on the planet, and what we use to create natural, biodegradable burial products.

The Future of Burial is Regenerative.

Green Burial Approved
Approved for natural burial — no embalming, no vaults, no waste. Each burial restores the soil and supports new life.

Carbon Negative
Stores more carbon than it releases — better for the planet. Each coffin absorbs up to 30 kg of CO₂, as much as planting a tree.

No Trees, No Harm
No trees are cut. No deforestation. Just earth-friendly design from the ground up.

Water and Energy Efficient
Cremation uses 92 kWh of energy and 160 liters of water per body. Our coffins use agricultural waste and 95% less water — a greener choice for the planet.

an eco-conscious symbol.

Non-Toxic
No glues, varnishes, or chemicals — safe for people and the planet. Support a regenerative cycle, protecting wildlife and maintaining the balance of natural habitats.

Biodegradable
Decomposes to nourish the soil — just as nature intended. Returns to the earth in just 30–45 days, unlike pine (10–15 years), metal (100+ years), or embalmed bodies, which may never fully decompose.

An icon of a burial headstone monument, signifying a living legacy and a tribute to a life well lived.

Living Legacy
More than a coffin — it becomes a living tribute, nourishing the earth in memory of a life well lived.

A mushroom icon.

Naturally Kosher
Biodegradable and free of metal or synthetics, our coffins meet Jewish burial laws — a natural fit for halachic tradition.

Urth Ritual is for those who want to return to the Earth naturally, symbiotically, and with purpose.

We make that return possible.

“Urth Ritual empowers us to take control of our end of life journey, deepening our connection to nature and guiding us toward more conscious, life-affirming choices—both for our bodies and for the Earth."
